New Occupy Denver General Assembly Schedule Beginning on 1/16

January 12, 2012 in Draft Proposals, Event, GA resolutions

At the General Assembly on 1/11 the proposal to change GA locations and times passed unanimously. It is important to note that for the remainder of winter there are only 2 voting GA’s, and “get involved night” has been discontinued. For Thursdays GA Procedures is currently working on a spokes council model for Occupy Denver, based on the model that has been adopted by other occupies. For the time being Thursday will be an inter-committee meeting. Committees are still encouraged to hold meetings in Civic Center Park & stand with the 24-7 occupation while we continue our protest there throughout the winter.

Until Spring weather arrives the new GA schedule will be as follows:

Tuesday General Assembly, 7PM @ “Deerpile space” upstairs from City O City 206 East 13th Avenue, Denver, CO

Thursday Inter-committee meetings(spokes Council meeting pending approval) 7PM @ “Deerpile space” upstairs from City O City 206 East 13th Avenue, Denver, CO

Saturday General Assembly, 3PM @ Civic Center Park

We would also like to extend a huge thank you to Dan Landis, the owner of City O City for donating this space to us for the winter.

The amended proposal that passed GA is as follows:

Title: Proposal to Change GA Schedule and Location

What: We, the GA Procedured Committee propose that the General Assembly schedule and location change beginning January 16th. New location will be the “Deerpile” space upstairs from City O City at 206 East 13th Avenue.

Why: This proposal will all us work more efficiently through the winter and grow our numbers in a convenient location. To make our general assemblies a more inclusive environment for people who cannot stand in freezing weather for 2 hours.

How: We will change the current existing schedule of voting GA’s to be on Tuesday@ 7PM upstairs from City O City and Saturday in Civic Center Park @ 3PM. Thursday will be reserved for Inter-Committee meetings, or spokescouncil meetings(pending approval). Meetings will continue in this space, until spring weather is upon us. Voting GA’s will no longer occur in Civic Center park Sunday through Friday. Committees & working groups are encouraged to hold meetings or other events in Civic Center Park in place of GA throughout the week.

This space will be reserved for teach ins before GA’s from 5:30-6:45 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If there are no teach-ins scheduled committee meetings can happen on a progressive first come first serve basis.

*The new location is 2 blocks away from Civic Center Park. This is currently the only indoor space that was available to us and these were the only times available to hold such a regular event. We are currently seeking additional spaces nearby to use for committee meetings and teach-ins.
