Teach-In: Class Conflict and the Occupy Movement

February 28, 2012 in Teach-In

When: Thursday, March 1 from 5:30pm to 6:45pm
Where: In the deer pile space above City O’ City at 206 E 13th Ave.

In this teach-in we’ll analyze the nature of class and class conflict in the context of the Occupy movement and take up several questions: Is Occupy’s claim to be the 99% a claim about class? How has class structure changed in the recent history? Are the 1% and 99% inherently at odds with one another? What is the role of the state and the police in class conflict?

This teach-in is led by Chad Kautzer, a member of Occupy Denver’s Education Committee and Foreclosure Working Group, as well as Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Director of the Social Justice Minor at the University of Colorado Denver.
